Following on from my blog showcasing the businesses around Stockport, called Welcome to Stockport and with hearing good things about the breweries and pubs in Buxton I wanted to visit.
So I thought I might as well write a blog about my visit.
Premier Inn, Buxton
My go to hotel if ever I want to visit an area, the Buxton Premier Inn is located on one of the main roads leading into Buxton.
The hotel has a self contained car park, Thyme restaurant and the hotel itself was clean and far enough away from pubs and bars to make it a place for restful sleep.
Day one was also arrival day, so dropped off my luggage at the hotel and made my way to the centre of Buxton.
Redwillow Brewery
On the site of a former TSB bank and tastefully converted to keep aspects of the old bank with addition of a mezzanine floor to increase capacity.
Offers a range of cask, keg beers, a beer fridge along with a range of other drinks and bar snack too.
Buxton Brewery Tap House & Cellar Bar
This is a lovely tap house and cellar bar. Offering a range of cask and keg beers, bar snacks and also has a kitchen that hosts a variety of outside caterers.
One the day of my visit I ordered a Bone Marrow Burder on White Bun and served with French Fries from The Cavendish Kitchen.
Beer District
This is a lovely bottle shop located near Redwillow Brewery.
Selling local beer and cider along with lager from Europe, including German and Belgium.
Simply Thai Restaurant
Was recommended to visit this fantastic Thai restaurant by the staff at Redwillow Brewery.
It’s a warm and welcoming family run restaurant. On my visit I ordered Thai Fish Cakes and a Chicken Thai Green Curry served with Jasmine Rice.
Buxton Pavillion
The Pavillion is a unique building and can been seen from the centre of Buxton.
Inside you’ll find a cafe, public toilets, a pop up bar from Buxton Brewery, local artists selling their work along with a theatre and exhibition space.
Pavillion Gardens
I had a walk around Pavillion Gardens, sadly the wet weather got the better of me and I had to go back to the hotel and change.
Buxton Brewery, The Cheshire Cheese
The first pub stop of the day started at Buxton Brewery, The Cheshire Cheese.
This is a beautifully maintained pub with some unique nautical flourishes introduced by Titan Brewery. Serving cask beer, keg beer along with lagers, gins, wines and other beverages along with a range of bar snacks.
Being that it was lunch I ordered a Fish Finger Sandwich served with French Fries and samples some of their cask beer.
Marstons Kings Head
A Marstons pub located near Buxton Town Hall.
Serving cask beer, keg beer along with a range of wines and spirits. The pub also offers a range of daily food offerings too.
The Ale Stop
Discovered near the end of day two located next to The Vault.
This unique bar offers a range of cask and keg beer and lager.
I’d describe it as small but perfectly formed.
